Behavioral Support Specialist

Job Description

The Behavioral Support Specialist assists clients participating in REACH's Day Treatment Program by providing another layer of treatment through Psychoeducational Support Systems (PESS). PESS can also help clients self-manage symptoms that will lead to either crisis prevention or the restoration of the client into his or her daily routines after a crisis occurs. Behavioral Support Specialists must demonstrate superior interpersonal skills with REACH's clientele, as well as the other members of the client's treatment team, must be warm and empathic, and develop strong rapport with clients and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Develop and maintain a service relationship with youth and family Provide interventions for social skill development, behavior management and self-regulation in accordance with the client's treatment plan Encourage clients to express their feelings, discuss their lives, and develop insights into themselves and their relationships Coordinate, make referrals, arrange for appropriate community resources when needed, or act as an advocate if necessary Establish and maintain an environment that is conducive to treatment and client emotional development Track interventions and client responses through individualized progress notes in the client's electronic health record Maintain accurate and up to date client records Coordinate with the clinical and educational members of the client's treatment team Perform additional duties as required by the nature of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience



Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred Prior experience working with clients with emotional and/or behavioral needs is preferred Ability to work successfully in a team environment High-quality written and verbal skills

Working Conditions



Ability to perform physical restraints according to the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques Work is performed primarily in the school environment
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.71 - $27.35 per hour
