Behavior Specialist


(2 positions available)



Salary: $30/hour



up to 29.75 hours per week



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Implement and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to address behavioral challenges.

Provide direct behavioral support and intervention in crises, de-escalating situations as needed.

Collaborate with professionals to analyze behavior patterns and adjust strategies accordingly.

Work closely with teachers, counselors, psychologists, and parents to gather input on student behavior and progress.

Communicate regularly with stakeholders to review behavioral data and adjust intervention plans.

Communicate with teacher to determine next steps and consequences after student is calm, safe and re-engaged in work.

Support and promote positive behaviors of students at all times and support students in making healthy, safe choices.

Comply with policies and procedures relating to student protection, health, safety and confidentiality.

Report any restraints or seclusions to the building administrator.

Support students with completing assigned work.

Ensure students reman supervised at all times.

Implement treatment plans as necessary in accordance with Board policy related to physical restraints and seclusion of students.

Ensure all behavior interventions comply with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.

Assist the classroom teacher with other functions as directed.

Participate in all training and professional development sessions.

All other duties as deemed appropriate by the administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Ability to work under pressure, especially in managing crises.

Experience in working with individuals with behavioral challenges, including students with special needs.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Must be PMT trained or willing to be immediately trained.

WORKING CONDITIONS:



May involve physical intervention in behavioral crises, as per legal and ethical guidelines.
