Job Description

The Lincoln Community School (LCS) is seeking candidates to serve as a Behavior Assistant who will collaborate with the principal, faculty, and other staff in the development and implementation of support and programming for students presenting with unexpected behaviors or behavioral challenges. QUALIFICATIONS: - Education or experience in comparable roles in educational settings. - Excellent interpersonal and collaborative problem-solving skills. - Knowledge of best practices in positive behavior support- Ability to implement student lessons in support of social-emotional learning- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of confidentialityRESPONSIBILITIES: - Provides direct support to identified eligible students in a respectful and supportive manner as students participate in assigned classroom, school, and alternative learning settings - Attends and participates in meetings relevant to job responsibilities - Participates in training to meet student(s) individual educational needs - Implements behavior programs as directed by the principal or the students case manager.



Assists students as required in areas of physical need, field trips, assemblies, and other such functions during hours of school operation. - Applies knowledge of learning and child development theories related to challenging behaviors - Uses good communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills to address and resolve student learning and behavior issues independently - Independently problem-solves and resolves student instructional and behavior challenges Assist in developing the students program, including behavior plan, de-escalating strategies, and data management. Maintains confidentiality of student information and records The Lincoln Community School is a K-6 school of 84 students nestled along the New Haven River on the western slope of the Green Mountains in Vermont. Our school's essential purpose is to insist that all students learn to use their minds well.
