Job Summary:
The Behavioral Aide provides
one-on-one, in-home behavioral support
to children under the age of 21 enrolled in the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP). This role focuses on implementing behavior support strategies developed by a
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other qualifying behavioral diagnoses.
Behavioral Aides do
not
diagnose, assess, or create treatment plans. All services are delivered under clinical supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement behavior support strategies outlined in the child's
Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP)
Provide in-home behavioral support in accordance with GAPP authorization
Support skill-building related to:
Communication
Daily routines
Safety behaviors
Emotional regulation
Collect and document behavioral data as directed by the supervising BCBA
Communicate observations and progress to the clinical team
Maintain professionalism and therapeutic boundaries in the home setting
Follow all Medicaid, agency, and client-specific policies
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges
(formal or informal)
Ability to follow structured behavior plans and clinical direction
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client homes
Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
certification
Coursework or training in psychology, education, social work, or ABA
Prior experience with:
In-home services
Medicaid-funded programs
Pediatric populations
Supervision & Training:
Behavioral Aides receive
ongoing supervision
from a
BCBA
Training is provided on:
Client-specific behavior plans
Documentation requirements
Safety and compliance standards
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of GAPP services and other home health care programs.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Ability to adapt to regulatory changes and implement process improvements.
Work Environment:
This is
not
a clinic-based ABA position
Behavioral Aides
do not
conduct assessments or write treatment plans
Services are delivered
in the child's home and community environments
Work is performed in various settings, including patients' homes, the agency office, and external meeting locations.
Consistency, reliability, and professionalism are critical
Requires reliable transportation and flexibility to travel locally.
