BEAR SAFETY SUPERVISOR

Reports to: Security Manager

Category: Year-Round \xe2\x80\x93 10 month work, paid full year.

Salary Range: Year-Round 60,000-65,000 with Benefits and bonus potential

Summary:

Bear Safety Supervisors are responsible for all aspects of successfully operating safe sites assigned and responsible for business outcomes, including productivity and profitability. Bear Safety Supervisors will be responsible for reporting tour activity to management and holding their unit responsible for the highest quality customer service, safe practices and tour delivery. This position will collaborate closely with excursions leadership team and facilities to ensure objectives of each are achieved/

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point\xe2\x80\x99s guiding principles: Best, Authentic and Profitable Tour Destination.
  • Bear Safety Supervisors will hire, train and supervise a specific team of employees whose function is to deliver high quality tours within their Independent Business Unit.
  • Ensures customer service standards are met in assigned unit.
  • Ensures high quality and complements the delivery of tour content.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws as related to their unit.
  • Responsible for maintenance records of equipment.
  • Conducts weekly safety meetings related to their unit.
  • Responsible for keeping unit morale high.
  • Bear Safety Supervisor will be asked to identify seasonal goals for their unit.
  • Bear Safety Supervisor must be willing to work together to ensure the success of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years working in the tourism industry, preferably in Alaska, with emphasis in safety or wildlife management.
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience managing staff.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude for learning other computer programs.
  • Outstanding customer service philosophy and practices.
  • High school or equivalent education with college degree preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Able to lift 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and walk 5+ miles daily.
  • Willing to live in a remote, rural community.
  • Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting
  • Able to walk and drive on gravel roads in inclement weather.
