Job Description

The Buccaneer is the premier resort in the United States Virgin Islands on the beautiful island of St. Croix. Currently we are seeking a Bartender to join our team. The Bartender ensures that patrons have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality customer service. The bartender performs the daily set-up of the bar to include mixing and serving beverages and food to patrons in a courteous and timely manner, and the service and cleanup of the bar area while adhering to all company standards. The Bartender will play a key role in contributing to our guest satisfaction, and in achieving The Buccaneer's Mission.

Essential Functions:

Promote a positive and professional attitude while providing world class guest service. Prepare and provide a variety of beverages to guests following established guidelines, procedures and policies regarding beverage and safety controls as prescribed by company standards. Ensure that IDs are verified in accordance with the hotel's Alcohol Awareness policy. Perform all guest contact activities in a cordial, efficient and professional manner, maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction. Responsible for accurate calculation of guest checks, collecting cash, and processing credits; and room charges in the exact manner outlined by company policies and procedures. Responsible for the completion of liquor requisitions and supply lists. Maintain knowledge and comply with Virgin Islands liquor laws. Perform all side-work duties according to side-work schedules. Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be 18 years of age or older. V.I. Health Card and Driver's License. Ability to work scheduled shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. High School Diploma or equivalent and bartending certificate, preferred*.
Proven working experience as a bartender. Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing and serving drinks. Positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Ability to stand for a prolonged period, and at least lift 50 pounds. Ability to keep maintain the bar and keep it clean and organized.
