Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Shift Leader to join our team in a fast-paced cafe environment for the evening/night shift. The Shift Leader will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and leading a team of baristas and food service staff. This role requires strong time management skills, a passion for coffee and food service, and the ability to maintain high standards of quality and safety.

Duties

Supervise daily operations during shifts, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to company policies. Train, mentor, and motivate team members to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain high-quality standards. Manage cash handling procedures, including accurate cashiering and basic math calculations for transactions. Utilize Toast POS systems for order processing and inventory management. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling practices. Assist in food preparation and serving, maintaining cleanliness in the cafe environment. Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues effectively to enhance customer satisfaction. Monitor sales performance and assist in achieving sales targets through effective team leadership.

Qualifications

Previous experience in the food industry or cafe environment is required. Familiarity with Toast POS systems is a plus. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers. Experience as a barista and in food preparation is highly desirable. Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods. Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math calculations. Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating leadership capabilities.
