Position: Barista

Location: Fairbanks, Alaska

Employment Type: Part-Time (2-3 shifts/week) or Full-Time (4-5 shifts/week).

Required Availability: Closing shifts + weekends

Reports to: General Manager

What You'll Do

As a Barista at Summit Coffee Co., you're one of the most important parts of each customer's day. You'll craft high-quality drinks, serve great food, keep things clean, and deliver the kind of service that keeps people coming back. Keeping quality high and the atmosphere upbeat is the heart of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Craft Exceptional Drinks: Make espresso beverages, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty drinks with accuracy, consistency, and care. Quality matters here. Prep & Serve Food: Prepare and present food items while maintaining food safety standards and freshness. Customer Service: Greet every customer with genuine friendliness. Take orders, answer questions, offer recommendations, and make each visit feel personal. Stay on Top of Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized workspace, including equipment, counters, prep areas, the bathroom, and rotating deep-clean tasks. Know the Menu: Learn our coffees, seasonal specials, and ingredients so you can confidently guide customers. Accurate Cash Handling: Run the register with attention to detail and efficiency. Teamwork: Communicate clearly and work closely with baristas, the GM, and owners to keep operations running smoothly. Operational Support: Restock supplies, help with inventory, and report equipment issues promptly. Represent the Brand: Uphold our values of quality, community, and professionalism in every interaction.
What You Bring

Prior barista experience preferred but not required for the right fit. A customer-service mindset, warm, friendly, and approachable. Ability to multitask and stay steady in a fast-paced environment. Basic math and cash-handling accuracy. A real passion for coffee and an eagerness to keep learning. Strong communication and people skills. Availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Physical Requirements

Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout shifts. Ability to lift, carry, push/pull up to 30 lbs regularly.
