Cabell Huntington Hospital

is seeking a

full-time Bariatric Insurance Coordinator

with our

Bariatric Surgery

department.


The principal objective of this position is to ensure that all patients requiring insurance pre-certification for surgery, hospital admissions or other, are submitted to insurance in a timely manner for approval with all pertinent records and documentation. The Insurance Coordinator will ensure that the patient has completed all program steps prior to submission and will proactively initiate appeals or peer to peer reviews when needed. Will strive for 100% insurance coverage on all admissions, with both primary and secondary insurance when applicable and have the accounts ready to bill prior to or by the time of discharge. In addition, other objectives will include collecting and correlation bariatric program statistics and data on patient outcomes to promote Bariatric Program Standards and participation in patient, physician and staff education of insurance requirements for Bariatric Surgery. This will require staying up to date on industry changes and CPT coding as it pertains to bariatric surgery coverage and all program and insurance requirements necessary to obtain coverage.


The Bariatric Insurance Coordinator will work closely with the Bariatric Team, Program Manager, Surgeon/s, and other providers, the OR scheduling department as well as the patient for a collaborative team approach to program completion, insurance coverage/pre-authorizations and surgery scheduling. This will require an extremely organized approach and ability to effectively communicate with all named departments, groups, and individuals.





Along with the bariatric team, the Bariatric Insurance Coordinator will also assist with periodic patient seminars, and / or patient support group meetings that will be outside of regular daytime business hours and will assist as needed with office duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education:




High School diploma or equivalent is required Junior College/Technical School is preferred Bachelor's Degree is preferred

Experience:




Minimum of 1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience is preferred

The

kind

of position-related experience includes:


Must be a high school graduate. Type of minimum of 55 wpm. Medical terminology knowledge. Preferred at least three (3) years of progressive health care, third party, credit and collection experience. The ability to secure information and make arrangements in difficult situations. * Preferred supervisor experience.
