Lead Bartender

Position Summary
As the
Lead Bartender,
you will oversee daily bar operations and deliver an exceptional beverage experience reflecting Latin American flavors, premium spirits and elevated hospitality. You will lead the bar team, champion quality and consistency, assist in menu development of cocktails, and ensure the bar is run efficiently, profitably and according to brand standards.
What You'll Do:
Service & Guest Experience
Lead by example behind the bar: craft and serve high?quality cocktails and beverages with attention to presentation, timing and guest interaction.
Ensure the bar team delivers warm, polished, and culturally authentic service aligned with the upscale Latin American concept.
Mentor bartenders and bar-backs: train in drink recipes, techniques, guest engagement, and station setup.
Understand and promote Latin American spirits and ingredients; assist in guest education.
Maintain the bar station in pristine condition: proper garnishes, glassware, ice, equipment and signage.
Operations & Leadership
Oversee opening and closing of the bar: inventory checks, stock rotation, control of waste/spoilage, cash handling and POS closing.
Manage bar inventory, supplies, ordering, cost control, and vendor relations in conjunction with leadership.
Monitor beverage costs, drink yields, and waste to support profitability targets.
Assist in developing and refreshing the cocktail menu, seasonal updates, and innovation.
Ensure compliance with all Michigan liquor laws, responsible service practices, and health & sanitation regulations.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless coordination (e.g., pairing drinks with menu items, busy service periods at the airport).
Environment & Setting
You will be working in a unique environment at the Battle Creek Executive Airport - interacting with travelers, business aviation clientele, local patrons, and airport staff.
Flexibility is required: early morning, late evening, weekend shifts, holidays, and handling high-volume service around flight schedules.
What We're Looking For:
Minimum 3-5 years of bartending experience at least 1-2 years in a lead/supervisory role preferred.
Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine and beer; passion for Latin American beverage culture a plus.
Proven ability to train, lead and motivate a bar team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Solid operational understanding of inventory, cost control, POS systems, and bar logistics.
Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced settings, maintain composure, multitask, and prioritize.
Excellent guest service orientation: polished, professional image, detail-oriented and proactive.
Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift and move bottles, cases, kegs, etc. (Up to 25-50 lbs) and perform bar station setup/clean-down.
Must be
21 years of age or older
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Spanish/English bilingual a plus.
