Position Summary

The Baker at our Kolache Bakery is responsible for producing high-quality kolaches and related baked goods from scratch, following established recipes and production standards. This position plays a key role in preparing doughs, fillings, and pastries with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail. The Baker ensures all products meet our freshness, flavor, and presentation standards while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe kitchen environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and bake kolaches, sweet pastries, and other bakery items according to company recipes and daily production schedules. Mix, portion, proof, and bake doughs to achieve desired texture and flavor. Prepare savory and sweet fillings, ensuring consistency and quality in every batch. Monitor oven temperatures, baking times, and product appearance to ensure optimal results. Maintain accurate production logs and assist with daily inventory of ingredients and supplies. Ensure all work areas, equipment, and utensils are cleaned and sanitized according to food safety and sanitation standards. Rotate ingredients and baked products to maintain freshness and reduce waste. Assist in testing and developing new kolache varieties or seasonal offerings. Support a positive, team-oriented work environment and communicate effectively with management and front-of-house staff. Perform opening and closing bakery procedures, including setup, cleanup, and restocking.

Qualifications and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; formal baking or culinary training preferred. Minimum of 1 year of professional baking experience (kolache, pastry, or bread experience highly preferred). Strong knowledge of dough preparation, proofing, and baking processes. Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining product consistency. Excellent attention to detail and time management skills. Must be able to work early mornings and weekends as required. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. safely. Team-oriented attitude and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Work Environment

This position operates in a commercial bakery setting with exposure to heat, ovens, and bakery ingredients such as flour, dairy, and nuts. The role requires adherence to strict hygiene, uniform, and food safety standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
