The Position


The Avionics Technician II is responsible for performing advanced installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of aircraft avionics systems in compliance with FAA, FCC, and company standards. This position requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and proficiency in wiring, soldering, and avionics system repair. Working both independently and as part of a team, the Avionics Technician II ensures aircraft systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities


Install, inspect, test, and repair avionics systems and components in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, and FAA/FCC regulations Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and wiring issues, performing corrective actions to ensure optimal performance and safety Route and secure wiring harnesses and cables following detailed technical drawings and engineering diagrams Perform soldering, crimping, and connector assembly using approved techniques and installation tooling Maintain, calibrate, and operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrometers, and pitot-static systems Document all maintenance and repairs accurately, ensuring compliance with company procedures and aviation regulations Support inspection and quality assurance activities, verifying that work meets required specifications and tolerances Comply with all safety standards, including the handling of hazardous materials and the operation of vehicles or heavy equipment in accordance with safety-sensitive regulations Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve complex avionics or electrical issues efficiently

Skills & Qualifications


High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience A higher-level degree may substitute for experience Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education Must have own tools in good working order Ability to understand applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications Ability to route wires per technical drawings Basic skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, and wiring installation Experience with soldering and crimping techniques Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required


Preferred Experience


Familiarity with FCC and FCC GROL Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscope. and/or pitot static equipment Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military


Work Environment


On-site position located in Hagerstown, Maryland This is a 1-year contract


Compensation


Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $30 - $40, with additional benefits

Requirements


Because this client is a Federal Government Contractor performing services for the DoD, US Air Force, NASA and others, they do require US, Non-Dual Citizenship
