We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. This role involves assessing customer needs, providing expert recommendations, and coordinating with service technicians to ensure quality service delivery. Candidates with dealership experience and a strong automotive background will thrive in this position, leveraging their mechanical knowledge and sales skills to enhance customer satisfaction and dealership profitability.
Responsibilities
Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing a positive rapport.
Assess vehicle issues through detailed conversations with customers and initial inspections.
Prepare accurate service estimates using auto estimating tools and communicate options effectively.
Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, transmissions, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repairs.
Write detailed service orders and ensure all work is documented accurately.
Coordinate with service technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work.
Provide updates to customers regarding vehicle status and explain necessary repairs or maintenance procedures clearly.
Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Maintain a thorough understanding of automotive diagnostics, mechanical repair processes, and vehicle maintenance procedures to answer customer questions confidently.
Promote additional services and vehicle sales when appropriate to maximize dealership revenue.
Qualifications
Proven dealership experience or background in auto service management preferred.
Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, repair procedures, and mechanical systems including transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, alignment, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, brake repair, air brakes, and other automotive repairs.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
Experience in auto estimating software and service writing is highly desirable.
Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust.
Mechanical knowledge or mechanic experience is a plus for understanding complex vehicle issues.
Sales experience related to automobile sales or service is advantageous.
