The Automation Engineer will jointly participate in the development, construction and deployment of automated systems for use in TTC manufacturing sites through the Manufacturing Technology Lab. This role will provide guidance and daily instruction to a team of engineers and technicians executing design, assembly, and installation of these systems. This role will play an active part in the advancement of the MTL Technology Roadmap. The Automation Engineer will work jointly with the other MTL leads to create a process identifying opportunities at various TTC sites for increasing productivity through technology.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

Collaborates with manufacturing sites and the other Manufacturing Technology Labs on development projects and strategic planning.

Maintains an understanding of state-of-the-art technologies in manufacturing in alignment with TTCs Technology Strategy

Maintains an understanding of cutting edge TTC products and identifies needed technologies to support their manufacture, assembly, and test as needed.

Identifies new technologies that have application in our operations, research, and writes proposals.

Evaluates and determines preferred technology vendors in conjunction with manufacturing site User Groups.

Works with plant to understand business needs and work collaboratively to identify technologies to address.

Reviews plant proposals for technology investments to ensure compliance with TTC technology standardization and to foster and leverage innovation.

Works with plants to understand skill gaps in current employee base and create development programs to close gaps by investing in existing employees whenever possible.

Supports site in recruitment and evaluation of technical resources.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

Maintain an understanding of technology available in the marketplace including evolving tools, applications, and capabilities

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

B.S. in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical degree

Minimum 5 years experience in a progressive technology driven environment

Experience with project planning, MS Project or similar

Experience with IIoT, Industry 4.0

Exposure to Augmented Reality systems such as Vuforia,

Experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV,) Weld Robotics, Assembly Automation, Vision Systems, Automated Test and/or Controls

Excellent oral and written communications skills

Adept at Influential Leadership

Ability to travel up to 25% including internationally
