We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Auto Body Estimator to join our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will assess vehicle damage, prepare accurate repair estimates, and coordinate with customers and technicians to ensure quality service. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive repairs, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates efficiently. The Auto Body Estimator plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service and maintaining customer satisfaction throughout the repair process.
Responsibilities
Evaluate vehicle damage through thorough inspections and assessments.
Prepare detailed repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software.
Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs, costs, and timelines.
Collaborate with technicians to determine necessary repairs, parts, and labor requirements.
Upsell additional services such as mechanical repairs, alignments, or tire services when appropriate.
Manage service writing documentation and ensure all estimates are accurate and complete.
Coordinate with insurance adjusters for claim approvals and documentation.
Maintain knowledge of current automotive repair procedures, including transmissions, oil changes, suspension, brake repair, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and more.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions and concerns professionally.
Handle cash transactions accurately when applicable.
Experience
Proven dealership experience or auto service management background preferred.
Strong auto estimating skills combined with experience in automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge.
Familiarity with automotive repair processes including auto body repair, vehicle maintenance, and service writing.
Experience in sales or upselling automotive services is advantageous.
Knowledge of various vehicle systems such as transmissions, oil changes, alignment, suspension, tire service, diesel engines, shocks & struts, brake systems, and air brakes.
Prior experience in customer service within an automotive setting is highly desirable.
