Job Overview:

This position involves operating, including loading and unloading, atmosphere-controlled and other types of heat-treating furnaces to heat-treat, temper, and harden parts to meet specified hardness standards, following established procedures and processes. The focus of this position is to maintain a steady product flow through this functional area, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Works safely in all aspects of operations and in all areas of responsibility. Adheres to Company Safety Policies and Programs such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Incident/Injury Reporting, and Hazard Communication and Labeling Safely shut down, start up, and operate furnaces. Monitors process controls to ensure the system is performing correctly and immediately notifies supervision of any issues. Places parts in racks, trays, or baskets, and places objects on the conveyor or loads objects directly into the furnace. Safely shut down, startup washers. Safely perform generator start-up and burnout. Adjust tempering temperature to meet hardness requirements Conducts troubleshooting of furnaces and thermocouple issues Loads and unloads furnaces Maintain the heat-treat plant by preparing products for shipment to external vendors. Maintain cleanliness and organization Safely utilizes an electric pallet jack to move product Support team to achieve department and company goals Participate in continuous improvement programs Communicate production status and issues with other operators and supervisors. Follow established procedures and processes Organize the department workflow based on the production schedule report Performs other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. for continued periods during a given shift. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to work in a non-air-conditioned manufacturing environment for up to 8 hours per shift. Visual acuity. Clear communication skills.
