Job Description


About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and currently developing a new middle school.

Position: Under the supervision of the Athletic Director or their designee, the Athletic Trainer / HPER Instructor is responsible for, but not limited to, teaching Athletic Training and/or HPER courses, and duties as an Athletic Trainer for junior college and high school athletics. The Salary ranges from $50,000.00 to $56,000.00, on a 10-month exempt, contract. The job description is available upon request.

Tasks:

  • Maintain professional and ethical academic standards
  • Provide class instruction in accordance with established course outlines
  • Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements
  • Provide athletic training services as assigned, in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and student records and submit them in accordance with published deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge of a wide range of CPR and first-aid techniques
  • Knowledge of injury evaluation techniques
  • Knowledge of sports medicine, physical therapy, and rehabilitation techniques
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication
  • Skill in developing and administering budgets
  • Skill in utilizing computer and software technology
  • Confidential record maintenance skills
  • Knowledge of medical insurance claims, procedures, and documentation
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in athletic training or a related field and demonstrate a plan to obtain a Master\'s Degree within 5 years of hire
  • Proof of Board of Certification, Athletic Training Certification
  • Proof of or eligibility to obtain NM Athletic Training Licensure
  • Master\'s degree preferred
