Athletic TrainerHigh School (Grades 9-12)Reports to: Athletic DirectorQUALIFICATIONS: Hold current Massachusetts Athletic Trainer License under the Board of Allied Health ProfessionsHold current Board of Certification (BOC) ATC CredentialPrevious experience in athletic training, preferably in a secondary school Current CPR/AED certification requiredStrong communication and organizational skillsRESPONSIBILITIES: The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic health care services for all student-athletes in the high school interscholastic athletic program. This includes injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. The Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with the athletic director, coaching staff, school nurses, team physician, students, and parents to ensure safe participation in athletics.1.Provide immediate evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries during practices, games, and other school events.2.Develop and implement injury prevention programs and educate athletes and coaches on proper techniques and conditioning.3.Implement and oversee concussion protocols in accordance with Massachusetts state laws and school district policies.4.Perform concussion baseline testing, recognize signs and symptoms of concussions, and manage return-to-play procedures in collaboration with healthcare professionals.5.Educate athletes, coaches, and parents about concussion risks, symptoms, and the importance of reporting injuries.6.Maintain open and effective communication with the athletic director, coaching staff, school nurses, team physicians, parents, and student-athletes regarding injury status and rehabilitation plans.7.Coordinate and facilitate annual physical examinations for student-athletes in collaboration with school nurses and team physician.8.Be present at all athletic practices, games, and events, or other designated locations, unless otherwise directed by the athletic director.9.Travel to all away varsity football games.10.Maintain accurate and detailed records of injuries, treatments, rehabilitation progress, and communications.11.Report all serious injuries promptly in writing to the athletic director, assistant principal and principal/assistant superintendent, and school nurses including injuries requiring further medical evaluation or hospital visits.12.Complete student incident reports and deliver to Nurses Office to initiate school insurance and assist with follow-up claim related to athletic injuries.13.Develop and manage an annual budget for the athletic training program.14.Order, maintain, and control the inventory of training supplies and equipment.15.Stay current with developments in athletic training practices through continuing education and professional development.16.Provide education and training sessions for coaches, athletes, and staff on injury prevention, concussion awareness, and safe athletic practices.17.Develop and implement emergency action plans for athletic events and ensure all staff are trained and prepared for medical emergencies.18.Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director or their designee. SALARY & WORKING CONDITIONS: $70,000 - $80,000 depending on experienceAfterschool, nights and weekends based on sport practices & games35 40 hours per week
