The Associate Project Manager supports Project Managers in the planning, execution, and tracking of engineering and manufacturing programs for high-performance defense electronics. This role coordinates schedules, documentation, and communication to ensure projects stay on track, meet quality standards, and fulfill DoD and commercial contract requirements. Working closely with cross-functional teams--including engineering, test, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain--the Associate Project Manager helps keep project activities organized, aligned, and moving forward in a fast-paced technical environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting complex technical projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination of tasks.
Maintain and update project schedules, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Track project progress and provide regular status updates to internal teams.
Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document detailed and accurate meeting minutes.
Manage project documentation, including requirements tracking, change orders, design review notes, test results, and contract or customer documentation.
Support monitoring of project budgets, material requirements, and resource usage.
Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, test, manufacturing, quality) to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
Coordinate communication with suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners.
Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and deliverables for management and DoD customers.
Ensure project processes and documentation comply with AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Support the overall workflow of engineering and production activities to keep programs moving efficiently.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent experience in project coordination within engineering may substitute.
1-3 years of experience in project coordination, engineering support, or technical administrative support.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic project tracking tools.
Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation and follow structured processes.
Comfortable working in a technical, engineering-driven environment.
Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in defense, aerospace, electronics manufacturing, or engineering environments.
Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems.
Experience with MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management software.
Basic understanding of engineering terminology (RF systems, electronic assemblies, testing, hardware builds).
Experience supporting DoD contracts or technical programs.
