Why does the job exist?



This position will be the front line of Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) operations and will be responsible for processing various vehicle transactions that impact New Mexico residents and other users of the State's roads and highways. Vehicle transactions range from titling and registering individual owned vehicles to processing fleet and government owned vehicles. This position will also be responsible for processing requests for military service plates and tow liens, as well as providing support to internal and external customers by responding to daily inquires submitted through our vehicles email.

How does it get done?



This position will be responsible for:



Accessing Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) data systems to process vehicle transactions. Reviewing each transaction's supporting documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal law. Receiving, processing and accounts for payment for transactions conducted in person, by mail or by phone. Providing quality customer service to all internal and external customers. Providing support to all field offices regarding customer inquiries. Keeping customers informed regarding their transaction process. Logging and filing all returned mail. Keeping up to date with MVD policies and procedures by accessing any changes in the MVD manual.

Minimum Qualification



High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of general office, clerical, and/or administrative experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements



Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions



Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Some travel may be required.
