POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Editorial Manager is a key member of our Marketing and Communications team, helping to bring the year-round work of the nonprofit Sundance Institute and Film Festival to life. Through creative, compelling storytelling, and copywriting that will appear on Sundance.org, among other physical and digital platforms, the Associate Editorial Manager will engage our audiences, artists, and constituents and introduce them to our many programs and offerings.

Working closely under our Associate Editorial Director and the Chief Communications Officer, the Associate Editorial Manager will help ensure that the Institute\'s brand is upheld across a wide range of print and online channels, from social media and email newsletters to longform editorial blog posts and the Festival catalogs. This role will also lead a seasonal Festival publications and editorial team.

This position works full time starting Monday, September 4, 2023. This full-time position is based out of our Park City, UT office or one of the following states of operation: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, or Virginia. This position works extended hours, including evenings and weekends, at key points throughout the year. Occasional travel to work onsite at various events or Institute offices, including the annual Sundance Film Festival, will be required.

Top priorities include but are not limited to...

Editing, fact-checking, and proofreading copy across a wide range of channels.

Developing, drafting, and publishing original copy for all Institute programs including editorial blogs, invitations, advertising copy, and other materials.

Working closely with our strategy and design teams to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and articulate messaging for advertising campaigns across various channels.

Writing clear and compelling copy that connects with our varied audiences and drives action.

Partnering with various marketing and product teams to develop action-oriented email newsletters that drive click-throughs and sign-ups.

Developing content strategies and writing copy that drives participation in and exploration on Sundance Collab.

Collaborating with design, video, and social teams to create original content across channels.

Working with stakeholders from across the Institute to assess opportunities related to written content.

Generating original ideas for new columns and editorial series that will appear on Sundance.org and other platforms.

Staying abreast of existing and new functions of the Content Management System (CMS) to ensure efficiency and occasionally train others.

Leading project management around publications, both print and digital, and a seasonal team who will create and edit the products.

Managing seasonal staff, including selecting and training highly effective individuals, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure employees understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles.

Helping plan and execute coverage for the annual Sundance Film Festival.

Serving as a guardian for our house style guidelines, making periodic updates and additions as necessary.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

Legal authorization to work in the United States

3 years experience copywriting and editing content for print and online publications

Experience managing a publications process.

A proven track record in creating effective email campaigns

Experience conducting interviews and writing profile-style pieces with high profile artists and talent

Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a variety of people.

Excellent organizational skills including self management of work schedule and managing an editorial campaign calendar.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Experience working with a range of content management systems (CMS).

Knowledge of HTML preferred

Knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines preferred

In addition to an annual salary of $54,000.00 to $58,000.00 this position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, highlights include:
