Job Description

The Associate Governmental Program Analyst certification list is being used as an appropriate list to hire for the Associate Deputy Inspector General classification. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications for both classifications and be eligible on the Associate Governmental Program Analyst list.*



Under the general supervision of a Staff Misconduct Monitoring Unit Deputy Inspector General, Senior, the Associate Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) monitors the work, including the analysis and decisions, of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Office of Internal Affairs' (OIA) Centralized Screening Team (CST) staff members who receive, review, and make initial decisions concerning staff misconduct complaints and other grievances. The ADIG assesses the performance of CDCR staff members who receive, review, and make the initial decisions concerning the complaints. The ADIG completes assessments of the more routine reviews and decisions. The ADIG conducts research in CDCR databases and other sources and as requested, participates in producing internal and external reports concerning monitoring activities.

This position is eligible for teleworking under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, but some in-office work may be required.

To safeguard the integrity of the State's correctional system by providing oversight and transparency through monitoring, reporting, and recommending improvements to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The Office of the Inspector General is excluded from bargaining unit contracts.



Please Note: Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced by 3% and will accrue 5 hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period. PLP 2025 for this classification is expected to be effective through July 2027.
