About the Role




Westervelt Ecological Services (WES) is seeking an

Associate Biologist

to provide technical support in report writing, data analysis, biology, habitat restoration, and biological monitoring. This position plays a key role in the providing a variety of administrative and biological support on proposed, new and existing WES properties across the Tennessee Region, ensuring ecological integrity and compliance with conservation goals.


The Associate Biologist will collect, organize, analyze, and report biological data to support WES projects, contributing to restoration planning and conservation banking efforts.

What You'll Do



Conduct fieldwork for biological monitoring and reporting on WES projects. Conduct biological studies in support of WES projects. Support preparation for RFPs to including reporting, monitoring and other information as needed Provide detailed biological input for mitigation and conservation banking reports. Collaborate with the Tennessee District Manager to ensure biological considerations are integrated into restoration plans. Review potential project sites and provide insight on biological and land management opportunities or constraints. Assist in developing process and data for research projects. Supervise outside consultants preparing specialized biological resource documentation.

Day in the Life



Morning:

Head out to a restoration site to monitor vegetation and wildlife, collect data, and assess invasive species control efforts.

Midday:

Coordinate with contractors on site maintenance activities.

Afternoon:

Return to the office to analyze collected data, prepare technical reports, and provide input on upcoming restoration projects.

Occasional:

Travel to remote properties for multi-day fieldwork, especially during summer months.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in

Biology, Botany, Wildlife Science, Forestry, Environmental Science

, or related field. Valid

Driver's License

with a clean driving record. Working knowledge of invasive species common in the Southeast. Ability to work independently in remote field locations; overnight travel occasionally as required. Technical knowledge of dendrology and plant identification skills. Strong administrative and computer skills. * Organized, able to multi task and task driven.
