Under the general supervision of Accounting Administrator II, Chief of the Collections and Resolution Unit, the Associate Accounting Analyst is responsible for independently analyzing complex financial documentation and reporting findings in support of DTSC's enforcement and cost recovery actions. As an Associate Accounting Analyst you will have the opportunity to:

Analyze complex accounting data including assets, liabilities, ownership equity, income, and expenses as reported on financial statements, income tax returns, and bank statements to determine whether the information presented adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Ensure completeness of documents from the responsible parties of site cleanups and request additional information as needed Analyze accounting data and identifies significant trends, makes comparisons between accounting periods, determines whether the entity or entities can or cannot pay the amounts owed, makes projections, and draws sound conclusions to determine a course of action Coordinate with project managers to ascertain their need for financial data, to identify changes in the operating programs which affect the financial analysis, to identify ways of using financial data for cost recovery purposes, and to actively participate in decision and policy making sessions Review incoming formal disputes to determine their nature and documentation needed Evaluate the reasonableness or validity of the charges in disputes and suggested remedies based on knowledge of laws, rules, and policies governing DTSC's billable and cost recovery activities
