Assisted Living Activity Director
(also known as Life Enrichment Director or Activities Coordinator)

Job Summary:



The Assisted Living Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing activities and programs that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents in an assisted living facility. The role focuses on promoting social engagement, independence, and quality of life among seniors.

Key Responsibilities:



Program Development & Scheduling

Plan and implement a calendar of engaging activities (e.g., games, arts and crafts, music, outings, fitness classes). Tailor programs to meet the varied interests, abilities, and needs of residents. Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, and birthday recognitions.

Resident Engagement

Encourage resident participation and adapt activities for those with cognitive or physical impairments. Build relationships with residents to understand preferences and suggestions. Foster a sense of community and inclusivity.

Collaboration & Communication

Work with care staff, families, and volunteers to support programming. Coordinate with local community organizations for guest speakers or performers. Communicate activity schedules to residents and families via newsletters, flyers, or facility apps.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain records of resident participation and progress. Ensure activities meet state regulations and licensing requirements. Assist in assessments of residents to determine appropriate activity involvement.

Qualifications:



Must have a valid drivers license Previous experience in elder care or activity planning helpful but not necessary(often 1-2 years). CPR and First Aid certification may be required.

Skills & Competencies:



Creativity and enthusiasm for event planning. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Patience, empathy, and respect for elderly individuals. Ability to adapt activities for physical or cognitive limitations. Basic computer skills (for calendars, newsletters, recordkeeping).

Work Environment:



Assisted living facility, typically working 30 hours a week, including some evenings, weekends, or holidays. Involves walking, standing, and occasional lifting (equipment or assisting residents).

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

Work Location: In person
