Overview

The Assistant Youth Sailing Coach plays a vital role in fostering a love for sailing among young participants. This position is from late June to early September of 2026. The position involves working closely with the head coach to deliver engaging sailing lessons, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all students. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and mentoring youth, along with relevant experience in sports coaching or related fields.

Duties

Assist in planning and implementing sailing lessons tailored to various skill levels. Provide hands-on instruction and support to youth participants during sailing activities. Ensure the safety of all students by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages teamwork and personal growth. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help improve skills and confidence. Collaborate with the head coach to develop engaging training sessions that incorporate fun and educational elements. Maintain equipment and ensure that all sailing gear is in good condition. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and program updates.

Qualifications

Level 1 US sailing certification is preferred but not required. A power boat license is required by the start date. CPR/AED and first aid certification is required by the start date. Strong sailing experices preferably in racing. Background in sports coaching or teaching is highly desirable. Experience working with students in various capacities, such as childcare or youth sports programs. Strong communication skills to interact positively with students, parents, and fellow staff members. A passion for sailing and outdoor activities is essential for inspiring young sailors. Pay: $15.50 - $18.00 per hour
