Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.

Responsibilities

Analyzes performance and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition; observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement; and coaches players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques of sport coached. Assists head coach, supervises work study. Advise student-athletes for academic success. Recruit potential student-athletes and supervise field maintenance. Employment of 207 days during the fiscal year.




Recruits by making contracts with potential student athletes, through attending in and out of state games and practice observations, makes contacts with coaches, conducts personal, school and home visits, coordinates personal and player travel arrangements and assists in campus visitations. Serves as assistant to the head coach analyzes performance and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition; observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement; and coaches players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques of sport coached. Counsels team members in academics, disciplinary and personal matters, to include consulting with Admissions and College administrators to resolve problems. Assists in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student athletes. Advises and counsels with student athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and appearance. Perform and supervise field maintenance.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree required. Two years to five years of similar or related experience i.e., prior coaching and/or collegiate playing experience.
