To provide support to the Transportation Supervisor by assisting with all aspects of operating the transportation department including, but not limited to, ordering, correspondence, maintaining records, answering phones, computing data, and completing and submitting state reports. Perform minor repair, service, and maintenance of district school buses, vehicles and shop operations. Assist in routing and scheduling buses and district support vehicles as needed. Assist in the supervision and training of drivers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of three years of experience in the pupil transportation field or equivalent
Possess a valid Washington State driver's license with Commercial Drivers License endorsements of class B, passenger, and air brake restriction removed and a Washington State School Bus Driver's Certificate
Current first aid and CPR certification for adults, children and infants
Ability to lift over 50 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Pullman School District Transportation Operations
Knowledge of safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, and policies and procedures related to pupil transportation
Ability to apply standard business management systems, equipment, and software programs
Knowledge of bus maintenance procedures and management applications
Experience as a trainer of school bus drivers
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume all responsibilities of the Transportation Supervisor in their absence
Assign drivers and buses to trip requests
Assist in the training of bus drivers and type II drivers
Assist in preparing reports (Personnel 1799 report, Type II driver report, etc.) as required
Assist supervisor in developing routes, maps and related documents in conjunction with Transfinder
Assist in the continuation and development of the driver training program
Assist in the inspection of roads during inclement weather and advise district administrators regarding road hazards relative to school closures and/or delays
Attend trainings as identified and required by supervisor
Drive daily bus routes as needed
Assist with the maintenance, repair and servicing of the district vehicle fleet
Assist with shop operations including, but not limited to, scheduling, maintenance, record keeping, ordering parts and equipment, communicating with vendors, etc.
Perform required preventive maintenance and regular internal bus safety inspections
Assist with repairing, maintaining and servicing district buses and vehicles including distribution of support vehicles
Assist with repairing and replacing seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, and other body components
Operate equipment required for performing repairs and maintenance of motor vehicles
Establish and direct regular equipment inspections, services, and maintenance schedules
Provide recovery of disabled vehicles, perform minor road-side repairs, or tow disabled vehicles to the bus garage
Complete vehicle maintenance forms and records (work orders, stock records, inventory of parts, etc.)
Assist with the preparation of vehicles for state patrol inspection
Assist in the cleaning and organization of the shop, parts room, and facility
Work with colleagues in a collaborative manner and be a positive team builder
Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
Maintain confidentiality
Work positively with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization
Work with a high level of energy
Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
Work with minimal supervision and be flexible
Perform other duties as assigned
