This position is responsible for processing the release of public information and open records requests in compliance with state statutes and assisting with data entry related to records. The Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator (ATAC) assists the Terminal Agency Coordinator and are responsible for ensuring NCIC rules, regulations and requirements are followed, and serves as the point of contact for validations and other NCIC related matters. Duties also include performing a wide variety of general and/or specialized office support, clerical, and technical work in support of the Sheriff's Office. Work consists of collecting, recording, transcribing, maintaining, editing, and retrieving confidential law enforcement data and information; performing a variety of recordkeeping functions, including receiving and providing assistance to the public at the front counter and over the telephone; and providing supplementary support and assistance to other activities of the Sheriff's Office and the town Police Departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs a wide variety of technical and clerical law enforcement support duties related to collecting, recording, transcribing, maintaining, processing, editing, retrieving, and distributing technical and confidential law enforcement data and information including police reports, citations, warrants, protective orders, and subpoenas.
Enters, maintains, and retrieves data, reports, and information into and from a variety of automated law enforcement records systems, including a Records Management System (RMS).
Maintain accurate list of operators with access to CJIS Network.
Ensures that all certified CJIS Network Operators maintain current certifications.
Assigns username and passwords for CJIS/NCIC systems to current and new employees.
Assist with administering Security Awareness Training for all agency employees.
Maintain and update username and passwords for all CJIS Network Operators.
Assist with ensuring all new employees are fingerprinted and receive Security Awareness training.
Assist with the preparation of NCIC statistical information for annual budget.
Assist with maintaining NCIC file retention limits and CJIS Network related documents.
Assist with the preparation for and conducts NCIC bi-annual and tri-annual audits conducted by the SC State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
Verifies the accuracy of information on NCIC entries completed by CJIS Network Operators.
Ensures that all NCIC entries are made within the time limitations set forth by the FBI.
Verifies documents for vehicle releases; runs various records for background checks; runs arrestees and suspects for warrants, driving records, and criminal history; assists officers with RMS checks.
Assists with Police file and record management including their destruction and transformation to micro imaging; scans reports; assists in the implementation of file record management systems and programs.
Assists other departmental and personnel with administrative and office support functions, provides materials to other agencies; maintains accurate records; maintains various logbooks; receives packages and opens and distributes mail.
Assists, provides information, and responds to questions and concerns from the general public, departmental staff, and other agencies in person and by telephone; answers and responds to calls on multiple phone lines; forwards calls to appropriate personnel; takes and provides phone messages.
Types correspondence, reports, forms, and other confidential and specialized documents from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions; composes letters and other documents as necessary.
Assist the courts with the entering/maintaining of Protective Orders.
Process background requests for Department of Social Services.
Pull Radio/Phone Recordings from the Integrated Computer System for officer's Case Jackets. Assist the Solicitor's Office and other personnel with phone and radio recordings as needed.
Process background investigations for investigators, and Sheriff's Office employees.
Enters warrants, guns, vehicles, missing persons, boats, identity theft files, vehicle parts, ICHR's, violent persons, and protective orders.
Attends training, conferences, and meetings as required.
Assist in the dissemination of training for all sworn and non-sworn OCSO members as it relates to privacy and security, the dissemination of Criminal History Record Information (CHRI), use of the NCIC terminal, proper use of NCIC procedure books and other related training. Assist with responsibilities as it pertains to maintaining, posting, and filing all procedural updates received from NCIC.
Performs other duties and related wrk as instructed and assigned by the Terminal Agency Coordinator.and/or TAC's supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree. No previous dispatch experience required. Previous customer service or sales experience preferred. 18 years of age minimum. Valid SC driver's license. Registered SC voter. Resident of Orangeburg County. Fluent in the oral and written communication of the English language. Clean criminal record: No Felony, serious misdemeanor, or convictions of any crime of moral turpitude. Good credit history. Good driving record: no DUI or DUS convictions. Must be able to pass the following: Intensive background investigation, written standards testing, medical physical examination, polygraph testing, and weapon familiarization course of fire.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
NCIC Certification must be obtained during introductory period.
Must be able to obtain such certifications or licenses as directed to remain current and proficient in field.

Physical Demands:
Must maintain good physical fitness.
Vision must good (corrected to 20/20).
Must work indoors in a high-volume call center while monitoring multiple phone lines and law enforcement agency calls.
Must be able to operate a computer keyboard. Must be able to work around moderate noise.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Work Environment:

While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, exposure to possible bodily injury, and work working with explosives.
The incumbent's working conditions are moderately quiet with limited exposure to loud situations. Materials and equipment used is a Vehicle, Computer, Radio and Standard Office I Equipment.
