Position Summary:
The Assistant Teacher plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of our center by providing flexible support across various classrooms and age groups. This position assists lead teachers and other staff members, ensuring continuous supervision, engagement, and care for all children. The Assistant Teacher will adapt quickly to different classroom routines and age-appropriate activities, maintaining a positive and safe learning environment at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
Provide direct supervision of children in various age groups (infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-agers) as needed, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist lead teachers with daily routines, including mealtimes, naptime, transitions, and outdoor play.
Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including reading, arts and crafts, sensory play, and gross motor activities.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
Prepare and set up learning materials and activity stations.
Flexibility and Adaptability:
Move seamlessly between classrooms as assigned by the Center Director or Assistant Director to cover breaks, absences, or fluctuating ratios.
Quickly integrate into different classroom dynamics and routines.
Be available to work a consistent 35-hour week, with a schedule that may vary slightly based on center needs.
Child Development & Care:
Assist with personal care routines, such as diapering/toileting, feeding, and dressing, as needed for each age group.
Observe children's behavior and report any concerns or significant incidents to the lead teacher or Director.
Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate effectively and professionally with lead teachers, colleagues, and center leadership.
Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the center.
Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
Compliance:
Adhere to all licensing regulations, center policies, and health and safety standards.
Complete required training and professional development within specified timelines.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be able to pass background check
Must receive a clear TB Skin test
