Job Description

Overview:

The Assistant Teacher assists the Teacher in providing educational and special education services specified by the individual needs of assigned students, as documented in educational plans such as IEPs and PEPs; provides leadership and guidance to the students in a supportive atmosphere. This position is classified as full-time, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, totaling 2,080 hours annually.

Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Maintain a safe learning environment for students within the scope of administrative policies and procedures. Supervise and manage student behavior in the classroom, school and school-sponsored functions. Provide a consistent and reliable supportive presence in the classroom. Assists in the direct group and individual instruction to students. Stimulate interest and cooperation in individual and group activities. Provide a learning environment that is stimulating and motivating to students who generally have not adjusted well to school. Assist in the timely completion of all necessary paperwork to accurately record student progress. This is to include daily attendance records, grades, IEP data logs, portfolios, and behavioral logs. May assists in the creation of curricular and remediation materials, as directed by the teacher. In the absence of the teacher, ensures that all instructional plans are implemented. Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team. Communicates all appropriate information within and without the classroom orally and in writing. Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture. Maintain proper rules, safety, and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary. Inform the teacher and/or administration of all relevant situations. Attend trainings and meetings as required. Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to students and families served. Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.


Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED and at least one (1) year experience working with children and families, preferably in a school setting. Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
