We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to support classroom instruction and foster a positive learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will have experience in early childhood education, classroom management, and working with children with diverse needs, including those with autism and disabilities. This role involves assisting lead teachers in implementing curriculum, engaging students in literacy and math activities, and promoting social-emotional development. The Assistant Teacher will play a vital role in supporting children's growth and development in a home daycare/preschool setting. The ideal candidate will be able to recognize learning opportunities while maintaining a relaxed home daycare atmosphere. Many of the children in care are there a long time and we scaffold the safety and security of home and the fun of being at school.
Duties
Assist lead teachers in developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and behavior management strategies.
Support classroom activities that promote early childhood development, social skills, and emotional well-being.
Support a calming and relaxed home environment while being able to create learning opportunities.
Provide individualized attention to children with special needs, including those with autism or disabilities, ensuring inclusive participation.
Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies.
Support children during daily routines such as snack time, nap time, and outdoor play to ensure safety and engagement.
Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and needs.
Collaborate with other staff members to develop curriculum materials tailored to diverse learning styles and developmental levels.
Assist in documenting student progress and maintaining accurate records of activities and assessments.
Qualifications
Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, private school, or similar settings is preferred.
Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including childhood development theories such as Montessori or preschool methodologies.
Experience working with children with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder or other disabilities, is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
Familiarity with lesson planning, curriculum development, literacy education, math instruction, and behavior management techniques.
Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively while fostering a nurturing environment.
Certification or coursework in early childhood education or related fields is a plus but not required.
