This position supports, organizes, and coordinates QA technician staff. The Quality Assurance Assistant Supervisor assists the QA Supervisor by monitoring employee attendance, recommending procedures and standards as well as changes in staffing needs. Furthermore, this position will support the QA team by performing sampling and inspecting inbound and outbound shipments. This position will act as a backup for the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
What you'll do...
Inspect and ensure all inbound produce shipments on arrival to ensure compliance with established USDA standards.
Monitor the condition and quality of products in inventory by opening cases, checking receiving dates, and tracking proper case rotation in the pick slots.
Document and communicate information and related quality control reports in accordance with standards, deadlines, and company requirements.
Work with the buying team to problem-solve the best avenues for generating revenue on all items based on quality conditions.
Follow all quality standards.
Use a computer to record and retrieve data and to provide daily reports.
Report on quality and food safety issues and trends.
Maintain and deliver product and quality training to new and current team members.
Communicate with Buyers, Receivers, Inventory Control, and Repack.
Help with daily administrative tasks, such as taking phone calls and sending and responding to emails.
Act as backup to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
Assist the Quality Assurance Supervisor in conducting training sessions for new and current team members.
Assist the supervisor in monitoring employee attendance.
Recommend and implement procedures and standards.
Maintain and enforce safety standards and practices to prevent accidents and injuries.

Good oral and written communication skills, ability to speak, read, and write in English in order to understand and process paperwork.
Ability to use and understand portable communications within a warehouse environment.
Ability to operate forklifts and ride-on pallet jacks.
Strong computer skills, preferably including good working knowledge of Produce Pro.
At least 1 year of experience within the Produce industry (Retail, Wholesale, Distribution, etc.)
Possess knowledge of food handling, processing, quality, storage, and inspection of produce items.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to read and take direction in English.
Knowledge of basic computer skills such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
