Arapahoe Libraries is seeking an Assistant Supervisor
to help lead daily operations at
Eloise May Library
, one of our most active and community-driven branches. You will m
entor and support staff, model inclusive and welcoming service, and remain engaged on the floor to ensure patrons of all ages feel supported and respected.
Working closely with the Branch Supervisor, you will help guide daily operations with flexibility, approachability, and a readiness to step in wherever leadership is needed in a fast-paced environment serving youth, teens, families, and adults from a
richly diverse community.

Eloise May Library is a busy, high-impact branch that serves a broad and diverse neighborhood. It is a trusted space for youth and teens, families, and adults seeking connection, learning, and support. As
Assistant Supervisor,
you play a key role in maintaining smooth daily operations while supporting staff and modeling excellent public service. This role requires presence, adaptability, and a steady leadership approach, particularly during high-traffic periods and moments that call for thoughtful decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Relations and Patron Assistance
Build welcoming, respectful connections with patrons and staff, modeling people-centered service
Assist patrons with advisory, reference, and technology needs across formats
Promote library programs, resources, and services through daily interactions
Address concerns with empathy, clarity, and a solutions-focused approach while maintaining a safe environment
Supervisor and Team Support
Partner with the Branch Supervisor to support daily operations, scheduling, and task coordination
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring staff
Serve as supervisor-in-charge when needed, providing calm, consistent leadership
Support team communication, meetings, and recognition of staff contributions
Team Leadership and Mentoring
Lead by example, fostering collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership of goals
Work alongside staff to provide guidance, coaching, and real-time feedback
Balance hands-on support with leadership responsibilities in a busy public setting
Encourage curiosity, learning, and continuous improvement within the team
Learning and Development
Stay current on library resources, services, and operational expectations
Engage with internal communications to support alignment and shared understanding
Pursue professional growth while encouraging development opportunities for staff

Qualifications
Required:
Two years of library experience providing direct service to patrons
Experience training, teaching, or mentoring others
Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support team priorities
Availability to work evenings and weekends
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to learn new technologies
Preferred:
Knowledge of library resources and advisory services across formats
Experience working with youth and teens in a public-facing environment
Spanish language skills or experience serving multilingual communities
