Job Overview


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team. This role is vital in supporting store operations, driving sales, and ensuring excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of retail management. The Assistant Store Manager will assist in managing daily store activities, supervising staff, and maintaining operational standards to foster a positive shopping environment and achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities



Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures. Assist in managing inventory control, stock replenishment, and merchandising to optimize sales opportunities. Supervise and motivate team members, providing training & development to enhance performance. Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints efficiently, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Manage POS systems, cashiering duties, and cash handling procedures with accuracy. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and conducting employee orientation sessions. Assist with payroll processing, bookkeeping, and maintaining accurate sales records. Implement marketing strategies to promote store products and increase foot traffic. Support budgeting efforts and monitor expenses to meet financial goals. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and store procedures. Perform shift management duties including scheduling staff coverage during peak hours. Engage in pricing strategies, sales management, and promotional activities to maximize revenue.

Requirements



Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within a grocery store or similar retail environment. Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively. Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customers. Proficiency in inventory management systems, POS software, cashiering, and basic bookkeeping. Solid understanding of retail math, pricing strategies, sales management, and merchandising principles. Experience with employee orientation, training & development programs, and recruiting processes. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently across multiple tasks. Knowledge of marketing techniques relevant to retail settings. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain confidentiality of financial information. Strong interpersonal skills with excellent phone etiquette and customer service orientation. Previous assistant manager or supervisory experience is preferred; familiarity with wireless sales or grocery store operations is advantageous.
