Job Description


This position is an individual contributor to the Personnel Security program which provides access to all SRS employees and visitors, in accordance with SRS policy, procedures, and regulations, to protect site security interests, such as classified matter, nuclear material, and government property.

  • Assists in the oversight of the execution of SRS access authorization to ensure the security and protection of DOE/NNSA information, processes, and material.
  • Incumbent may be responsible for the development and updating of safeguards and security plans, procedures, memorandum of understandings, and deviations.
  • Incumbent will serve as a personnel security point of contact for SRS employees, to include internal and external customers.
  • Incumbent assist with the collection of data for safeguard and security assessments to ensure that organization is compliant with DOE Orders, and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide area specific liaison and coordination activities with protective force, Special Operations, Law Enforcement, VIP tours, and Planning for organizational facilities and/or programs.
  • Act as point of contact for badge, site access, and clearance request, and ensure compliance with the security aspect of the work.
  • Assist in providing Personnel Security support services and providing input/review of proposed polices.
  • Assist in the preparation of Area security plans, Controlled Area Access security plans, and VCMSPs as required.
  • Generate and issue
  • Identify time and cost-effective strategies and security effect protection measures in accordance with DOE/NNSA policy and protection strategies.
  • Assist in research of SRS personnel files and information through security technology, briefings and education materials.
  • Apply this knowledge of emerging security threats to counter internal or external threats personnel information, processes, material, and information.
  • Crosstrain staff and update desktop instruction as necessary.
The person considered for employment will be expected to gain access control as an Assistant Security Specialist should have an understanding of the DOE personnel security requirements established in DOE O 422.1, Conduct of Operations, DOE Order O as well as an understanding the verification of identification of badge recipients in accordance with DOE Order 473.3A, Protection Program Operations, DOE O 206.2 Identity, Credential, and Access Mgt (ICAM), DOE O 470.4B Safeguard and Security Programs, and FIPS PUB 201-2, as appropriate.

This person should also have a basic understanding of access control, National Criminal Information Center (NCIC), Site Access Authorization and Denial (SAAD), clearance processing, classified visits, foreign national visits and badge issuance to protect and safeguard site security interests, such as classified matter, nuclear material, and government property. Perform data entry to the Electronic Document Workflow System (EDWS) database purge Personnel Security Files as needed.

Basic Education Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential

Knowledge of access control systems and processes
