Organization's Summary Statement:
Veterinary Medicine Department
This rank is generally parallel to Assistant Professor. Appointees shall have demonstrated
superior scientific research ability. The Assistant Research Scientist will be expected to design
and conduct independent research; provide mentorship to students and trainees within the lab;
assist in grant writing and manuscript preparation; assist in peer review; and present findings at
scientific conferences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Creative and highly motivated individuals who have demonstrated productivity in
bacterial genetics, molecular biology, and/or protein biochemistry. Individuals should
have experience with Staphylococcus aureus genetic and molecular biology techniques
Physical Demands:
Perform fine motor tasks and repetitive motions; position self to reach low benches,
floor-level storage, or overhead shelves; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or
crouching; lift, carry, push, or pull laboratory items such as reagent boxes, carboys, waste
containers, and portable equipment; typically up to less than 25 lb.
