Position Summary

The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research conducts basic science and translational research within the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. The Wells Center houses more than 200 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees seeking answers to the most pressing questions related to childhood illness.

With the collaboration between scientists and physicians, the center aims to increase knowledge of causes and mechanisms of serious pediatric diseases. Our goal is to develop innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sick children in Indiana and beyond.

The Katzenellenbogen laboratory is looking for an Assistant Research Professor to join our group. The overall goal of this research program is to understand how high-risk human papillomavirus infections dysregulate normal cellular pathways and programs to drive cancer development and progression. This position will include direct laboratory research, oversight of long-term research projects, and participation in scientific writing of manuscripts and grant proposals.

Our laboratory research involves cell and tissue culture models, cancer cell lines, patient sample work, and molecular biology techniques to determine DNA, RNA, and protein changes, and the mechanisms underlying these changes, in infection-associated oncogenesis.

Basic Qualifications

Doctoral or Terminal Degree required in biological sciences or related field
3 years of postdoc training is preferred

Additional Qualifications

Successful candidates will be a PhD with at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience related to molecular oncology and tumor viruses. Expertise in gene expression assays, DNA, RNA and protein work, and tissue culture is a requirement as are strong scientific writing skills.
