An industrial manufacturer in the Fort Wayne, IN area is looking for a motivated
Assistant Quality Manager.
This role will focus on overseeing the quality control department addressing both internal and supplier-related quality issues. This is a full-time, direct-hire position, and offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance with 401(k) matching.
Assistant Quality Manager Responsibilities:
Assist management in overseeing the entire QC department and support supervisors in the managing of daily activities
Ensure training materials, plans, and competency checks are in place for QC associates and provide ongoing feedback
Maintain knowledge of production processes and quality controls, with a focus on quality improvements
Communicate with customers and suppliers on quality issues, with occasional travel (likely once a month for up to 2 days)
Provide technical support for major gauge and QA machine issues
Address and resolve quality control issues as necessary
Assist with disciplinary actions as needed
Manage scheduling including overtime and vacation time for direct reports
Ensure adherence to all IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards to guarantee the production of high-quality products.
Ensure a safe and clean working environment
Other duties as needed
Assistant Quality Manager Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree in Quality, Metrology, Industrial Technology or related work experience
Must have prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive or industrial manufacturing
Relevant experience with quality systems, quality management, quality assurance, PPAP, and quality control
Strong mechanical skills or experience in manufacturing environment preferred
Understanding of and experience with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards
This position includes manufacturing and warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.*
