About the Role





The Assistant Property Manager supports the Property Manager in overseeing daily operations at an assigned CHA community. This position assists with leasing, resident communication, rent collection, compliance, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and service-oriented, someone who takes pride in delivering a high-quality living experience for residents while maintaining strong operational standards.

Key Responsibilities




Assist with leasing functions, including processing applications, certifications, re-certifications, lease renewals, and work orders. Conduct property tours, respond to resident inquiries, and follow up with prospective residents. Maintain accurate resident files and ensure compliance with HUD, CHA, and Fair Housing requirements. Prepare and distribute resident communications such as newsletters, notices, and meeting materials. Support rent collection and delinquency control; post rents and issue receipts in Yardi. Assist with preparing delinquency reports, notices to quit, and repayment agreements. Coordinate inspections, audits, and re-exams; ensure data accuracy in Yardi and CHA systems. Handle resident service requests and coordinate work orders with maintenance staff. Assist with vendor scheduling, invoice processing, and administrative support for the Property Manager. Help prepare weekly and monthly reports for CHA and Portfolio Management.



Qualifications




2-3 years of experience in property management or leasing. Knowledge of HUD, CHA, LIHTC, or other affordable housing programs preferred. Illinois Leasing License (or ability to obtain within 6 months). Proficiency in Yardi Voyager and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
