Position description
The UCLA School of Education & Information Studies invites applications for a Project Scientist position. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty on a number of projects focused on the implementation of Autism intervention in school settings. This is a non-tenure track academic appointment intended for individuals who have demonstrated significant, creative, and independent contributions to research.
Position Description:
The Project Scientist will be responsible for advancing the research objectives of the program by conducting extensive scientific research, collecting, analyzing and interpreting data and publishing and presenting research to disseminate findings. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing implementation support and coaching to school administrators and educators to drive research projects forward. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of scholarship, the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities include:
  • Designing and conducting scientific experiments and school-based implementation research.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Collaborating with scientists, researchers, school administrators, and educators to support interdisciplinary projects.
  • Conducting literature reviews and maintaining current knowledge of the field.
  • Planning and executing research projects in coordination with team members.
  • Presenting research findings at meetings, conferences, and other scholarly venues.
  • Mentoring junior research staff, including research assistants and coordinators.
  • Contributing to the preparation and publication of manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Developing and refining research methodologies and protocols.
  • Assisting with grant writing and contributing to securing research funding.
  • Representing the research program at academic and professional conferences.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
Basic Qualifications (at time of application):
  • Ph.D. (or equivalent) in School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field.
Additional qualifications
Additional Qualifications (by start date):
  • Postdoctoral research experience conducting and/or analyzing school-based implementation research.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage research projects.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proficiency in statistical and qualitative analysis software, with advanced data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research settings.

  • Proven success in grant writing or securing external research funding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
