Role Description
GTL Construction of NJ is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated
Assistant Project Manager
to support our growing portfolio of commercial construction projects throughout the
Tri-State Area
. This is a full-time role designed for professionals eager to grow in a dynamic environment. The APM will support the Project Manager in day-to-day project coordination, documentation, and subcontractor communication. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of construction processes and is ready to take ownership of project components -- from bid support to closeout -- while learning directly under seasoned professionals. Responsibilities
Assist in preparing, organizing, and distributing project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, and closeout materials.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to track schedules, material lead times, and submittal deadlines.
Understanding contract documents for preliminary review of submittal, shop drawing, and sample adherence to the contract.
Support development and monitoring of construction schedules and cost controls under the direction of the Project Manager.
Maintain accurate records across multiple projects using project management platforms (e.g., Procore).
Review project drawings and specifications to ensure proper documentation, compliance, and field alignment.
Attend job site meetings (as needed) with clients, architects, and project teams; prepare and distribute agendas, meeting notes, and follow-ups.
Assist in administering project billing and cost tracking, including reviewing vendor invoices, payment applications, and owner billing.
Track and organize permit applications, safety manuals, insurance certificates, and other regulatory submissions.
Support project procurement efforts by maintaining logs, following up on open items, and verifying subcontractor scope alignment.
Help manage punch lists and final closeout packages.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a construction-related role, ideally supporting commercial projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore or other project management platforms preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and general field coordination processes.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team while demonstrating initiative and accountability.
