Job Description

This position will work full-time in our preschool classroom. They are supervised directly by the lead teacher(s) of the classroom they work in. The assistant teacher would work with a veteran lead teacher in the room to plan curriculum, guide children's daily learning and activities, and foster a strong classroom culture with parents. The assistant teacher should have comfort and confidence leading a classroom of up to ten children alone for part of the day. The assistant teacher would engage with children and help to create a welcoming environment. The assistant teacher will communicate with other staff members to ensure consistency of care.

Required Qualifications

? Be qualified as an Assistant Teacher per DHS standards

? Be able to repetitively bend, kneel, squat, and periodically lift up to 40 pounds

? Be available to work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday (exact schedule to be determined)

Preferred Qualifications

? At least 2 years full-time or equivalent experience working with young children

? Experience with behavior management redirection

? Experience with high-needs children

? Experience with or interest in HighScope curriculum

? Experience with or interest in non-hierarchical cooperative structures

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
