Overview:

HarperCollins Children\xe2\x80\x99s Books is seeking a creative, organized, and dynamic Assistant Manager to work on title-specific middle grade marketing campaigns on a variety of books, ranging from non-fiction to literary and commercial fiction, as well as group campaigns featuring frontlist and backlist titles. Duties include managing title budgets, developing and executing marketing plans, presenting at internal and external meetings, and extensive copywriting.


This is an incredible opportunity to join an enthusiastic, dedicated middle great team that works on a wide range of books, such as literary successes by Newbery Medal-winning authors like Katherine Applegate and Erin Entrada Kelly; commercial hits like Amari and the Night Brothers and the Warriors series; and graphic novel phenoms like the Emmie & Friends series and New Kid \xe2\x80\x93 just to name a few!


This position is based out of NYC on a hybrid schedule. Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm, develop, and execute integrated marketing campaigns for key titles and series.
  • Communicate plans and strategies to in-house team, including editorial and sales.
  • Develop product positioning and brand messaging, utilizing digital as well as traditional media.
  • Work closely with authors and agents on marketing initiatives.
  • Write ad copy, provide design direction, and develop short- and long-form content for social media (tweets, blogs, etc.) in close coordination with operations and digital teams.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Directors and other team members to shape overall middle grade title strategy and to execute larger initiatives.
  • Occasional travel to represent HarperCollins at consumer and trade festivals.
Qualifications:
  • 3-4 years of experience in trade book marketing and/or kids\xe2\x80\x99 product marketing; children\xe2\x80\x99s book experience preferred (with some middle grade experience a plus)
  • Excellent writing skills, including ability to write in a voice appealing to parents and tweens
  • Experience working on compelling, of-the-moment campaigns to reach a consumer audience
  • Excellent project management, communication, budget management, organizational, prioritization and presentation skills a must
  • Experience working on mobile platforms a plus
  • Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
  • Appreciation and knowledge of current trends in popular culture extremely helpful
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; social media knowledge and skills, including any content creation experience
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across the division and within the company
  • Talent at balancing priorities under pressure, while maintaining a sense of humor
  • Prior management experience, a plus

The salary range for this position is $58,500-$65,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate\'s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
