The Assistant Head Coach (Age Groups) works in partnership with the Head Coach and other Assistant Coaches to deliver a comprehensive swim program that develops athletes across all levels. This role focuses on leading and advancing the
Age Group programs
(ages 5-18), serving as a mentor for staff, and ensuring swimmers receive progressive, high-quality coaching.
Core ResponsibilitiesSpring / Pre-Season
Evaluate new swimmers for level placement (Fundamentals, Minis, Age Groups).
Assess returning swimmers' technique and goals to create tailored development plans.
Support staff scheduling and assignments for Age Group practices.
In coordination with the Head Coach, assist with swim meet entries/lineups for preseason meets (TT, Springbrook, etc).
Offer private lessons
Support coaching Meadow Masters program, as needed.
Summer - Age Groups
Co-develop daily/weekly practice plans for each Age Group and provide structure to supporting Assistant and Junior Coaches.
Serve as a leader, mentor, and manager for the Age Group Leads, Senior and Junior Coaching staff.
In coordination with the Head Coach, manage swim meet lineups/entries for scheduled meets.
Provide technical feedback and support to swimmers during practices and meets.
Co-lead the team at all swim meets and invitationals, by being present, attentive, encouraging and ensuring the proper flow of the events.

Summer - Minis Program (Support Role)
Collaborate with Minis Program Director to ensure smooth transitions for swimmers moving from Minis to 6U Age Group.
Evaluate swimmer readiness for progression to Age Groups.
Fall
Continue working with Fundamentals/Age Group swimmers, emphasizing skill development for next season.
Co-develop practice plans for each Age Group and disseminate to staff for execution.
In coordination with the Head Coach, manage swim meet entries/lineups for fall meets (Fall Invitational, OA Jamboree, etc).
Offer private lessons
Support coaching Meadow Masters program, as needed.
Swim Meet Leadership & Presence
Serve as a visible leader at all swim meets and invitationals, ensuring a positive, organized, and professional environment for athletes, families, and staff.
Be consistently present, attentive, and encouraging to swimmers, fostering team spirit and confidence.
Oversee the proper flow of events, including warm-ups, race lineups, relays, and transitions between age groups, in collaboration with assistant coaches and meet officials.
Provide on-deck leadership by modeling composure, sportsmanship, and proactive communication with timers, officials, and volunteers.
Ensure that swimmers are prepared for their events, supported before and after races, and given timely, constructive feedback.
Partner with the Head Coach and coaching staff to manage meet logistics, address unexpected issues, and maintain a safe, efficient, and fun competitive experience.
Qualifications
Previous coaching experience with Age Group swimmers, preferably in a recreational or competitive program.
Experienced swimmer, preferably in a competitive program.
Strong communication and mentoring skills with both athletes and staff.
Ability to plan structured practices that balance skill development, conditioning, and fun.
Enthusiasm for fostering a positive and inclusive swim team culture.
Ability to work all three seasons, at the hours necessary to lead & support the age group practices.
Collegiate athletic experience and college degree preferred.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 35 per week
