The Assistant General Counsel will provide legal support to the organization on a wide range of healthcare, regulatory, and corporate matters. This role is ideal for an attorney with 1-5 years of experience seeking broad exposure to healthcare law in an in-house environment. The position requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to partner with business and clinical leaders to provide practical, solutions-oriented advice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including service agreements, vendor agreements, business associate agreements, managed care contracts, and other healthcare-related arrangements. Advise on compliance with federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and state licensing requirements. Support internal compliance and risk management initiatives, including policy development, investigations, and training. Provide legal guidance on employment, patient care, and medical staff issues in coordination with outside counsel when necessary. Assist with corporate governance, including drafting resolutions, maintaining corporate records, and supporting Board and committee meetings. Manage and respond to subpoenas, government inquiries, audits, and litigation matters with support from external counsel. Work cooperatively with outside attorneys and consultants. Collaborate with clinical, compliance, HR, and operations teams to develop practical solutions that align with legal and regulatory requirements. Stay current on healthcare regulatory and industry developments and communicate relevant updates to leadership. Other duties as assigned by General Counsel.

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with ability to obtain in-house counsel registration if required. 1-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with exposure to healthcare law in a law firm, government agency, or in-house setting. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory environment (HIPAA, Stark, AKS, reimbursement, licensing, accreditation). Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior in-house legal experience in healthcare or life sciences. Experience supporting compliance programs, internal investigations, or audits. Familiarity with behavioral health, long-term care, or hospital operations.
