Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team in providing enriching experiences for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals. This position involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the diverse needs of our residents, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

Duties

Assist in the development and implementation of recreational therapy programs tailored to residents' interests and abilities. Facilitate daily activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement. Communicate effectively with residents to encourage participation and foster a positive environment. Collaborate with caregiving staff to monitor residents' well-being during activities. Document participation and feedback from residents to help improve future programming. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

Experience

Previous experience in senior care settings such as long-term care is preferred. Familiarity with dementia care practices and an understanding of the unique needs of seniors is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with residents and team members. A background in recreational therapy or caregiving is a plus but not required; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. College Degree in recreation or art/music therapy OR present ADC with at least two years experience and OR presently enrolled in MEPAP classes.
