Job Description

The Assistant Director/Food Program Coordinator supports the overall operations of the center by ensuring compliance with all state licensing regulations, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children, and managing all aspects of the CACFP food program. This position also assumes leadership responsibility in the absence of the Center Director and helps promote a positive, professional, and caring atmosphere for staff, children, and families.

Primary ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Leadership Duties



Assist the Center Director with daily management of staff, classroom operations, and parent communication. Ensure full compliance with state childcare regulations, DHS licensing requirements, and company policies. Serve as the acting Director in the absence of the Center Director, including overseeing staff scheduling, ratios, and supervision. Support in staff onboarding, training, and performance monitoring as directed. Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records required by state and company policies.

CACFP Food Program Coordination



Oversee all aspects of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), ensuring compliance with federal and state meal pattern requirements. Plan menus, document meal counts, and maintain all CACFP records for audits and monitoring visits. Order and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies within budget guidelines. Prepare and serve AM snack, lunch, and PM snack daily according to CACFP guidelines. Ensure kitchen and dining areas meet all sanitation, food safety, and health standards. Train staff on CACFP documentation and assist teachers with classroom meal procedures.

Compliance & Quality Assurance



Assist in preparing for and responding to inspections or audits by licensing, health, or CACFP representatives. Ensure daily checklists, safety protocols, and documentation are completed accurately. Report and document any incidents, injuries, or compliance concerns promptly. Collaborate with the Director to support center goals related to Keystone STARS, CACFP, and licensing compliance.

Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. Minimum of two years' experience in a childcare setting, with at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred. Knowledge of CACFP regulations and experience with menu planning and food preparation strongly preferred. Current clearances, health assessment, and required childcare training credentials. ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Work Schedule



Full-time, Monday through Friday. Must be available during center operating hours. Occasional flexibility may be required to support special events, training, or inspections.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
