Summary: The Assistant Director, Financial Aid Operations provides and supports the vision and mission of the University and Office of Financial Aid by establishing and maintaining the highest level of customer service to Lynn Students and parents. The Assistant Director oversees, supervises, and coordinates frontline Financial Aid Specialist\'s daily workflow, special projects, tasks, and communications activity. The Assistant Director assures that the Financial Specialists provide accurate information to students and parents via walk-in, internet, and phone. The Assistant Director provides high quality cross-functional administrative services that supports all Financial Aid team members by promoting and coordinating training sessions that are student-oriented, promote retention, recruitment, and is conducive to an overall campus team building environment.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Creates response systems to resolve discrepancies or complaints.
  • Reviews with leadership team any complex requests or information from appropriate departments.
  • Supervises, oversees, and coordinates daily projects, task, and workload of Financial Aid Specialists.
  • Oversee, manage and schedules frontline calendar and time off requests
  • Intervenes in student and parent conflict to resolve presenting issues and problems encountered by Financial Aid Specialists
  • Monitors and measures the Financial Aid Specialists phone, e-mail and counter services are of the highest quality
  • Coordinates and supervises FWS students working with Financial Aid Specialists
  • Coordinates and conducts frontline training for Financial Aid Specialists
  • Oversees the international student taxation process
  • Leads and establishes plans for student workshops, such as FNIS and Taxes
  • Collaborate with other departments on campus to provide additional student workshops
  • Oversee, manage and market the school\'s student health insurance policy
  • Oversee the 1042S process and the calculation and billing of student taxes onto the account
  • Regularly participate in professional development opportunities to remain current on systems in place and best practices in the field of Financial Aid, International Taxes and Student Health Insurance
  • Collaborate effectively with staff, faculty, students and parents
  • Work closely with all in the Office of Financial Aid to ensure deadlines are met
  • Lead and establish plans for effective frontline customer support
  • Establish ideas to streamline processes and work with departments across campus
  • Assist in the Return of Title IV funds process
  • Assist in the VA process
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Proven Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member
  • Self-motivated with focus on problem solving that produce results
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours as may be required during peak processing time
  • Ability to meet expectation of managing daily workflow within set deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge in the use of PowerFaids, Jenzabar, Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Perceptive Content
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or a minimum of three years\' experience in finance, financial aid processing and awarding
