The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director is to work with the Executive Director in overall program administration and human resources duties in order to carry out the mission and philosophy of Centers Against Violence. The Assistant Director will provide administrative support to the Executive Director, attend meetings in the Executive Director's absence, attend all staff meetings, complete assigned grant reports and assist the Executive Director in completing other reports as needed, maintain the staff training calendar, log staff trainings, work with the Executive Director to prepare staff development plans, supervise all volunteers and provide overall staff support. This includes all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Position Accountabilites:
In addition to the administrative responsibilities this position includes staying up-to-date on all aspects of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. The Assistant Director will assist the Executive Director in running all programs at CAV using a victim centered and trauma informed approach to service provision. Some of the duties included in this position are listed below:
Administrative:
Assist the Executive Director in the development and implementation of a strategic plan
Assist the Executive Director with the completion of the annual report
Works with Executive Director to prepare for monthly Board of Directors meeting and other meetings as required
Works with Executive Director in grant/agency writing and administration
Assists Executive Director in administering CAV's programs and operations within budgetary provisions and limitations
Human Resources:
Maintains staffs' Training Certification Spreadsheet, oversees training progress for all staff, makes training arrangements for the team, gets approval for training from funders and ED, and monitors training budget
Assists Executive Director in developing and administering sound personnel practices and professional growth of CAV's employees in order to provide the highest quality of service to survivors and the efficient and effective operation of all programs
Works with Executive Director in developing and implementing outreach programs, focusing on client services, community education, and prevention of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking
Attends a minimum of 15 hours of approved training per year in order to be attentive to the changing or growing needs of the community, and the changes in the movement and environment
Will keep appraised of developments and trends in the agency's operations
Works with Executive Director to periodically review, evaluate and modify agency programs to meet community needs, as well as funding source requirements
Works with staff committees on their various goals
Works with Executive Director, supervisors and staff to develop their staff development plans annually and achieve their goals
Ensures new hire paperwork is completed and processed
Updates & maintains employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
Trains new employees in agency's human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees from the CAV Employee Manual
Addresses any employment relations issues, such as work complaints and harassment allegations
Assists Executive Director in the hiring process, which includes coordinating job posts, reviewing resumes, sitting in on job interviews, performing reference & background checks
Supervision:
Provides direct supervision to all CAV volunteers
Agency Relations:
Attends community meetings as directed by the Executive Director
Works with diverse populations (clients and allied agencies) in a culturally informed manner
Speaks publicly to groups on issues relating to CAV's work only when ED is unavailable to do so
Flexible to travel, sometimes overnight, for meetings or trainings
Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or business administration or similar field of study OR minimum 2 years of experience in human resources at a non-profit community-based organization or other human service organization.
Minimum Experience:
Experience and training in victim services field is preferred. Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel development including experience in human resource management.
Skills:
Ability to become efficient in the use of required technology. Demonstrated skills in budgeting, fiscal management, grant writing, and program development and administration. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as leadership, organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
CAV's Assistant Director will be supervised by the Executive Director.
Physical:
Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols. Requires some climbing of ladders for changing light bulbs and making beds.
Mental:
Concentrated mental and or visual activity is required for gathering information and handling clients, verbal communication skills, reading, and writing. The employee must respond to emergency situations in a calm, professional manner.
Environmental:
Work is performed in an office environment. Frequent exposure to contagious diseases from infectious clients, exposure to electrical current from equipment in area. Exposure to atmospheric hazards such as dust, odors, poor ventilation and fumes.
Equipment:
Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer, telephones, copiers, fax machines, calculators, etc.
